2022 JH Softball Player Information
● Tryouts will take place Monday, July 25th
○ 7th and 8th graders 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. (RHS Softball Field behind the RAC)
○ 6th graders 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 a.m.
● Players will be notified via email Wednesday, July 27th by 10:00 a.m. if they were or were not selected for the team.
● Practices will begin Thursday, July 28th. They will be held from 9:00 - 11:00 prior to the beginning of school When school starts we will practice after school from 3:30 - 5:00
● Players must have a current physical to participate in tryouts/practice. If you are not sure, please contact Mrs. Powless at the Junior High School spowless@rochester3a.net or 217-498-9761. If we do not have a copy of your daughter’s physical at the time of tryouts she will not be able to try out for the team.
● Parents will need to register players on the Rschool website prior to tryouts, RSchool registration information.
● If a potential player cannot attend tryouts she will not be considered for our team.
● Please take the time to consider any travel plans you may make for the end of the summer (July 25th-September 26th). We have a short season, and it is important that every player attends all practices and games. Players with more than two unexcused absences will be removed from the team.
● Please ensure your daughter is properly dressed for tryouts/practice in softball pants and long socks.
● Bring tennis shoes if we have to be inside due to the weather.
● Players will need to bring their own water to tryouts. We will determine the number of 6th graders we can take based on the number of 7th and 8th graders we have try out.
● 6th graders will only be allowed to play in the Non-Varsity games which will take place after the Varsity games and usually last 3 innings.
● Once we have the roster set there will be a $75 athletic fee for each player.
● All CDC Guidelines will be followed during practices and games.
Please email or call me with any questions you may have prior to the beginning of the season. We will hold a formal parent/player meeting the week before tryouts. The time and date for this meeting will be sent out via the school messaging system.
