The Rochester CUSD #3a Board of Education is scheduled to meet on Monday, June 21, 2021 at 6:30 p.m. in the Rochester High School Learning Commons. The meeting will be live streamed on the Rochester CUSD #3a YouTube Channel here.
During the meeting the Board will consider approving and intergovernmental agreement with the University of Illinois for Covid testing support though the SHIELD Illinois testing program.
SHIELD Illinois is a testing program that deploys the University of Illinois' innovative PCR covidSHIELD saliva tests free of charge to all tier 1 and tier 2 PK-12 school districts throughout Illinois. The District will commit to testing 50% of unvaccinated individuals twice per week. Individuals who are double vaccinated and/or agree to SHIELD testing will not have to quarantine if they are determined to be a close contact of 3-6 feet as long as masks utilized correctly.
It will be recommended that the testing program is voluntary participation as an opt-out program. The linked video provides an example of what the SHIELD testing will look like in schools.
