Rochester CUSD #3A is committed to keeping our students, staff, and community informed about important developments in our district. Please see the following letter from Interim Superintendent Rolf Sivertsen regarding a recent leadership change and the steps we are taking to ensure strong support for our schools during this transition.
Dear Rochester Families,
This letter is to inform you of a change in leadership at Rochester Junior High and subsequently Rochester High School. On Friday, August 8th, Principal Kim Poole submitted her intent to retire from her position in Rochester Schools, effective immediately. We are extremely grateful for her many years of dedicated service to the students, staff, and families of our schools. She joined the district as a teacher and has devoted her career to helping students be the leaders of tomorrow. We wish her a happy retirement.
Due to the change in leadership, our district has made a personnel adjustment to ensure that both our students and staff receive the support and guidance they deserve. We are pleased to announce that David Hawkins, the Assistant Principal at Rochester High School, has been appointed as the new principal of Rochester Junior High.
Mr. Hawkins is a proud Rochester graduate who returned to serve his hometown as an educator. His deep love for our community, combined with his experience and leadership skills, will serve the junior high well. We are confident that he will lead with both compassion and excellence.
Mr. Hawkins’ appointment creates a vacancy at the high school. In response, the district is working diligently to fill this role with a leader who will serve with the same level of compassion and expertise that Mr. Hawkins has demonstrated. In the meantime, we are committed to ensuring that Rochester High School students and staff have the leadership, guidance, and support they need to thrive during this transition.
Thank you for your understanding and continued partnership. We are confident that together we can navigate these changes in a way that will enable our schools to continue to provide a safe, supportive, and enriching environment where every student is known, valued, and empowered to grow.
Sincerely,
Rolf Sivertsen
Interim Superintendent
