Paws for a Cause

The Rochester Junior High Social Justice Club is organizing Paws for a Cause, a supply drive and fundraiser to support the Animal Protective League. This event will take place from March 18th to the 28th. For just $1 per picture, you can showcase your beloved pet on the windows of Mr. Lauber's office and the library. The learning lab that collects the most supplies will be rewarded with a doughnut party! We are accepting various supplies such as Dawn, lightly used blankets, towels, and sheets, pet food (regardless of the brand), cleaning supplies, pet toys, as well as collars and leashes of any size. The complete list of accepted items can be found posted in either bathroom. Kindly bring in all supplies and donations by March 28th.

Yearbook Arrival - Summertime

The Junior High Yearbook will be arriving sometime during the summer.  We had to push back our publication date due to the timing of the Junior High Play.

We will be having a summer pick up date.  You will be notified by email and on social media. If you are not able to make the pick up date, your child will get their yearbook at the beginning of the school year.

Central Illinois STEM Fair Tickets Available

Only 3 weeks away!

Stem Fair Flier

Things you will see at the Fair

We have over 80 exhibitors this year so there will be something for everyone ~ including our Pre-K students who will have an exhibit!

If you are not exhibiting we would love for you to come and check it out as well!  You will definitely be able to get new ideas for your classroom!

The STEM Fair showcases locally-available STEM activities for students covering a wide range of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.  Reserve your free ticket today at https://central-illinois-stem-fair.odoo.com/

*Central Illinois STEM Fair Volunteers

The Central Illinois STEM Fair planning committee is looking for parent volunteers to help with running this annual event.  No experience necessary!  The time required can be as little as one hour on the day of the event.  Jobs the day of the event include helping with ticket taking and registration at the door and helping with cleanup at the end of the day.   We also need a volunteer to help with planning the event.  The organizing committee meets once a week and handles a variety of logistics and publicity tasks that help to make this the biggest K-12 STEM event in Central Illinois.  This is a great way to learn about all the great STEM activities for students.  Please email rochesterstemfair@gmail.com if interested.

Attendance Reminder

Dr./Dentist/Ortho.  Notes

Make sure that Doctor’s notes are being brought to the Jr High office after the appointment or if your student has been sick.  That note will change that absence in Skyward from a parent excuse - AE to a doctor excuse - AD. Remember that students get 10 parent excused absences (AE) in a school year.  After 10 they will be considered unexcused (UU).  You can have your student bring in the note to the office or you can email the note to cjones@rochester3a.net .

Mental Health Days: you are allowed 5 mental health days in a school year, but those are also part of your 10 excused absences (AE) that were mentioned above.  If 10 absences have been taken, all absences going forward will be marked as unexcused unless there is a doctor’s note for that day.
