RIS Homecoming Spirit Week

The RIS Library is inviting all students and staff to participate in our RIS Homecoming School Spirit Week this week by wearing Favorite College or Future Career Day today, wearing  Disney, Marvel, or Star Wars tomorrow, a Decade Day on Thursday, and wearing Rocket Orange and Blue on  Friday. Join in the fun as we celebrate Homecoming Spirit Week!

Literary

Attention students! Are you interested in acting, public speaking, or improvisation? Then the Rochester Literary Program is for you! We have opportunities for solo, duet and group performances for all students in grades 5-8th! The program will begin rehearsals the week of September 26th, with our contest currently scheduled for Saturday, November 12th at RJHS. 

 

A virtual parent information meeting will be held this Thursday, September 15th, at 6:00pm to cover all the details and additional information you will need to get signed up! If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Parker.

Transportation ChangesAll transportation changes must be submitted to the office no later than 2:00pm.  Please call the office at 217-498-6215 or email your changes to both Mrs. Warren at cwarren@rochester3a.net and Mrs. Lovett at clovett@rochester3a.net.  Any request for transportation changes past 2:00pm cannot be accepted.  Thank you for your cooperation!

Parent Pick-up:

As a reminder, for parent pick-up at the end of the day, all parents should remain in their vehicles and follow the pick-up line around and to the front of the building.  Please do not park in the parking spaces in order to pick up your child.  Thank you for your help with this!

Lunch Balances

The low lunch balance alerts have been reactivated for all families.  You will get an alert when your lunch balance is below $5.00.  If you choose to shut off the alert, you will no longer get any school announcements.

PTO Meeting 

RIS PTO is having its first meeting of the school year tonight, Sept. 13 at 7 pm via Zoom. The information is below. All parents and staff members are welcome to attend. We will need lots of help this year!

Also, we have several officer positions open. This is a great opportunity to take on a leadership role within the community and help out your child's school! Attend our meeting to learn more.

Rochester Future Cheerleading Clinic: Kindergarten-6th Graders

Clinic Date: Wednesday, September 21st from 3:30-4:45pm (2-3 Building) 

Performance Date: Friday, September 23rd, halftime of the Varsity Football Game

RYAA Softball Skills Camp/Home Run Derby for Girls

RYAA Softball Skills Camp/Home Run Derby for girls ages 8u to 14u. Sunday, September 18th 1-4:30 p.m. (Rain date Sunday, September 25th)

 

Enjoy a fun day of improving softball skills including pitching, catching, infield, outfield, and sliding. Camp will end with a home run derby. Snack provided.

 

$20 per player. Please bring your glove and wear pants for sliding if at the 10u level or above

We want to make sure every student has the option to access our student health services from day one.  Be sure to take part in our Consent for Care Drive by signing the form at my.hazel.co/rochester3a.  If you have already completed the form, thank you! 

Why sign up?

When students are not feeling well, they often miss more school when they can’t see a doctor.  We are making doctor visits available to all students through Hazel, so they can receive medical care and return to learning faster.  Wondering whether your child has allergies or a potential flu?  Your child says they have a headache that just won’t go away, and you’re not sure whether it’s serious?  Will you need to leave work to drop off medicine at school?

Hazel can help by providing HIPAA-compliant video doctor visits through your school nurse’s office or from home.  Hazel is a trusted resource for extended student health services, including:

  • Medical treatment: For stomach aches, headaches, sprained ankles, asthma concerns, and everything in between

  • Medication: Prescriptions written or over-the-counter provided at school when needed

  • Coordination: With family physician and school
