NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS

DOUBLE BUS ROUTES, 4-22-24

Bus Routes #16 and #17 are double routes tonight, please wait in the HS cafeteria after school until your shuttle bus arrives to pick you up and take you home. Please direct any questions regarding late buses to the Bus Garage at (217)498-9834.

SPANISH & GERMAN NHS CEREMONY PRACTICE

The Spanish and German NHS will hold a practice for their Induction Ceremony during Rocket Time on Wednesday, April 24. Attendance is mandatory!  If you are not able to attend, please contact Frau Catarinicchia for the German NHS, and Srta. Miller or Sra. Veenstra for the Spanish NHS.

RHS CHEERLEADING TRYOUTS

The 24-25 Rochester High School Cheerleading Tryouts will be held on May 7, 8 and 10. Anyone interested in going out for the team should join the BAND app tryout group and file out the survey before Friday, May 3. There is also a Mandatory Parent Meeting for anyone interested in trying out for the team on Wednesday, April 24 at 6:00 p.m. in the RHS Commons.  Please check the Orange and Blue flyers posted around the school for more details! Blastoff Kids Academy Student Workers

Blastoff Kids Academy is a new daycare housed at Rochester Elementary EC-1. We are looking for student workers for the summer and school year.  Only students enrolled at Rochester are eligible to apply.  Please complete the linked application if you are interested. Applications must be received by Friday, April 26 at 3:30 p.m. Students will be required to work a full day during the summer and after school (until 5:00 p.m.) during the school year. If you are selected for an interview, a District Office staff member will call you to schedule the interview.  Application Link

RHS SCIENCE OLYMPIAD RESULTS

The RHS Science Olympiad team participated in the State Contest at the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana on Saturday.  Team members are Ellie Gegen, Mark McDonald, Lemuel Chan, Collin Steele, Luke Gribbins, Mairead Zuver, Suna Tabag, Lacy Steck, Claire Carley, Gabby Winkler, Hannah Rollins, Ben Stalets, Soren Transue, Hannah Hillis and Elise Preston. Congratulations to the Rocket Scientists!  The Team participated in 16 events and placed in the following categories:

3rd Place - Forestry - Eleanor Gegen and Gabby Winkler 

4th Place - Microbial Mission - Lacy Steck and Lemuel Chan

4th Place - Detector Building - Collin Steele and Luke Gribbins

5th place - Code Busters - Mark McDonald, Lemuel Chan and Collin Steele

5th place - Disease Detectives - Mark McDonald and Claire Carley

GENERAL INFORMATION

SENIOR CLASS PHOTOS NEEDED

We are asking that each senior provide one baby or toddler age (1-3 years old) picture and one senior picture ASAP for the video. Photos can be digital or hard copy. Please see the attached letter for additional information - Senior Photo Request Letter

ROCHESTER JAZZ NIGHT

Rochester Jazz Night is Saturday, April 27! Tickets are available at Jazz Night Tickets now through April 16. Come out to hear the Rochester Jazz Bands and Vocal Jazz Ensembles and have a great meal too.

PROM 2024

The RHS Prom “A Night Under the Sun” will be held on Saturday, May 4 from 8:00-11:00 p.m. at the Artisans Building on the Illinois State Fairgrounds. Tickets are $30.00 each and will be sold online from Monday, April 15 - Thursday, May 2 at 12:00 p.m. (NOON). You can purchase your tickets at the 2024 Prom Ticket Link or scan the QR code on the prom posters around the school. If you have any questions regarding Prom please reach out to Mrs. Gunter or Ms. Seitz. 

PROM GUEST FORMS

If you plan to bring a guest from another school or an RHS student that is NOT a Junior or Senior to Prom you must complete a guest form. Guest forms are available in the Principal's Office from Mrs. Tucker from April 15-30. Guest forms are DUE by Wednesday, May 1 to Mrs. Gunter by 3:05 p.m. (NO EXCEPTIONS).

GRADUATION WALK

All RHS Seniors will visit the Elementary campus, RIS campus and JH/HS campus for a Graduation Walk on Tuesday, May 7 from 9:30-10:45 a.m.  Seniors should bring their cap and gown to wear during their visits to the other campuses. You must have your cap and gown to participate. This event is for SENIORS ONLY!  If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Tucker in the Principal’s Office.

BASEBALL CONCESSION STAND NEEDS VOLUNTEERS

The following dates are still open to work at the Varsity Baseball Concession Stand:

SPORTS PHYSICAL INFORMATION

Sports physicals for Rochester High School athletes will be held on Tuesday, May 14 starting at 4:00 p.m. in the RAC.  These physicals are for current freshman, sophomore and junior athletes.  There is no charge for the physicals, which are conducted by local physicians/parents from the Rochester community and Springfield Clinic Sports Medicine. Each student athlete is required to have a physical on file before beginning practice.  These physicals are good for 13 months. Each athlete must have a filled out and SIGNED IHSA history and physical form before they can receive their physical.  Medical Eligibility Form  Volunteer nurses are needed to help with blood pressure checks, height and weight and other pre-physical activities.  If you can volunteer to help, or have questions,  please contact Jessica Nika at jnika@springfieldclinic.com. HEALTHCARE SKILLS PROGRAM

The Healthcare Entry-Level Professional Skills (HELPrS) program is an immersive, two-week summer program designed for high school juniors and seniors or recent graduates ages 16-20. We will meet Mondays-Thursdays, Noon to 4:30 p.m. (5 p.m. on job shadowing days) from June 10-20, 2024. You will explore health care professions both on and off campus, learn about college life and develop important professional skills needed in the healthcare workforce. RHS PTO INFORMATION

The HS PTO needs your help!  The PTO is seeking donations to help provide lunch from Cafe Moxo for our staff during Teacher Appreciation Week in May. You can make a donation at PayPal - (RHS PTO @rhsrocketspto) or you can mail in a donation to - Rochester HS PTO - Attn: Heather Cook, 1 Rocket Drive, Rochester, IL 62563. The money collected helps provide lunch and treats during Teacher Appreciation Week. Any donation is greatly appreciated!

BASKETBALL OPEN GYMS

Basketball open gyms will be every Wednesday and will run through October.  The open gyms will be held in the RAC from 6:00-7:00 p.m. for anyone in 3rd through 8th grade and 7:00- 8:30 p.m. for high school students and up. 


SUMMER SPORT CAMP REGISTRATION INFO

Summer Camps are open for registration.  Payment is cash/check before the first day of camp. Summer Sports Camp Brochure  Links for registration are below:

SUMMER FOOTBALL ANNOUNCEMENT

Students interested in Summer Football: There will be an informational meeting for Parents and Players on Thursday, April 25 in the RAC to go over summer football details.

  • Varsity (Sophomore 2027 - Seniors 2025) will meet at 6:00 p.m. - Please arrive at 5:30 p.m. to register your player, pay your Summer fee, and look at some of the items in the BSM Team Shop including:  Shoes, girdles, gloves, compression gear, etc.

  • Freshman (2028) will meet at 7:00 p.m. - Please arrive at 6:30 p.m. to register your player and pay your Summer fee, and look at some of the items in the BSM Team Shop including:  Shoes, girdles, gloves, compression gear, etc.

SPORTS ANNOUNCEMENT

If your student plans to participate in one of our upcoming sports seasons, please visit Athletic Registration to register your athlete.  Please go under the 'more' tab and choose athletic registration.  We will also need an updated physical on file.  Don’t forget to subscribe to “notify me” for your child’s sport, this allows you to get automatic notifications of any schedule changes. If you need to check your child’s physical date or have any questions about the registration process, please contact Kim Hauck at khauck@rochester3a.net.

PARKING

If you plan on driving a vehicle to school this year, you must fill out the parking survey and pay the parking fee.  If you have not already completed the survey, please do so ASAP, Rochester HS Parking Survey. Please make sure you are parking in the correct parking spot.  Also, all students that park in the back lot will be required to enter through the MPR doors.  Students should not be entering any of the other doors on the back side of the HS.  If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Tucker in the Principal’s Office.
