NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS

DOUBLE BUS ROUTES, 4-9-24

Route #16 is a double route tonight, please wait in the HS cafeteria after school until your shuttle bus arrives to pick you up and take you home. Please direct any questions regarding late buses to the Bus Garage at (217)498-9834.

PSAT & SAT TESTING INFO

On Wednesday, April 10, 2024, all freshmen, sophomores and juniors will take the PSAT 9, PSAT 10 or SAT at school as a part of the State of Illinois testing requirement.  This year, the test has moved to a digital format.  All students will use their school-issued Chromebooks to take the test.

In order to have a successful testing day, we need students to make sure they bring the following items to school on April 10:

  • Fully charged Chromebook and charger (there will be a limited amount of loaner Chromebooks available)

  • An approved calculator. There’s a graphing calculator built into the app, but students can bring their own if they like. 

  • Pen and/or pencil (scratch paper will be provided)

  • Water

Students will not be allowed to leave the testing room once they begin.  If your student has a pre-arranged appointment that morning, they will be scheduled for makeup testing at a later date.  Please note, students will not be allowed to access their phone or any other electronic device during testing.

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY CEREMONY INFORMATION

Information about the National Honor Society Induction Ceremony that will be held on Sunday, April 14 at 2:00 p.m.

Attire: This is a more formal event, please avoid wearing jeans or sweatpants. You will

be walking across the stage - choose your shoes wisely.

Time: The ceremony begins at 2:00 p.m. (All NHS members should arrive to the 

Auditorium no later than 1:15 p.m. - Doors for guests will be open at 1:45 p.m.

Graduation Cords: These cords have been purchased already.  Members DO NOT owe

any money.  

RSVP: Each NHS member received an RSVP form via email or Canvas announcement to

fill out. Members who are unable to attend the ceremony will still receive their

certificates and/or graduation cords.  Ms. Murray will send out information after

the ceremony about how to pick these up.  

Practice: There will be a short practice lasting no longer than 30 minutes in the 

Auditorium following school on Friday, April 12. Attendance is mandatory unless

cleared through Ms. Murray.

CENTRAL ILLINOIS STEM FAIR IS WEDNESDAY

We have an all-time high of 84 exhibits for this year's STEM Fair, including 16 from Rochester.  Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and the event ends at 8:00 p.m.  If you haven't done so already, all students and families should reserve their free tickets at https://central-illinois-stem-fair.odoo.com/ Students volunteering to help set up the RAC should be at the RAC at 3:15 p.m. Seniors doing their college/career exploration activity at the STEM Fair should print out the signature form at the Central Illinois STEM Fair website.  Doors open at 6:00 p.m.   Check out the Central Illinois STEM Fair website for more information!

SPORTS PHYSICAL INFORMATION

Sports physicals for Rochester High School athletes will be held on Tuesday, May 18 starting at 4:00 p.m. in the RAC.  These physicals are for current freshman, sophomore and junior athletes.  There is no charge for the physicals, which are conducted by local physicians/parents from the Rochester community and Springfield Clinic Sports Medicine. Each student athlete is required to have a physical on file before beginning practice.  These physicals are good for 13 months. Each athlete must have a filled out and SIGNED IHSA history and physical form before they can receive their physical.  Medical Eligibility Form  Volunteer nurses are needed to help with blood pressure checks, height and weight and other pre-physical activities.  If you can volunteer to help, or have questions,  please contact Jessica Nika at jnika@springfieldclinic.com. LIBRARY ANNOUNCEMENT

The RHS readers have chosen "The Hate U Give" as the readers' choice book for this school year.  Thanks to all who participated in selecting this book!

RHS PTO INFORMATION

The HS PTO needs your help!  The PTO is seeking donations to help provide lunch from Cafe Moxo for our staff during Teacher Appreciation Week in May. You can make a donation at PayPal - (RHS PTO @rhsrocketspto) or you can mail in a donation to - Rochester HS PTO - Attn: Heather Cook, 1 Rocket Drive, Rochester, IL 62563. The money collected helps provide lunch and treats during Teacher Appreciation Week. Any donation is greatly appreciated!

AVANTI'S FUNDRAISER

Who: Rochester High School Softball Team

What: Selling HALF of an Avanti’s Gondola Subs (sub includes: ham, salami, cheese, & lettuce)

Cost: $5 per half of gondola (collected at time of order)

When: Orders will be taken April 8-15, Contact a player or Head Coach, Lindsay Howard, at lhoward@rochester3a.net

Pick-Up: Saturday, April 20 from 11:00-1:00 at the Rochester Athletic Complex

Checks can be made payable to RHS Softball

***This fundraiser will help support the field upgrades and equipment for the Jr. High and High School Softball Teams***

SENIOR CLASS PHOTOS NEEDED

We are asking that each senior provide one baby or toddler age (1-3 years old) picture and one senior picture ASAP for the video. Photos can be digital or hard copy. Please see the attached letter for additional information - Senior Photo Request Letter

UIS STOCK MARKET TRADING COMPETITION

Students playing the stock market competition: The game ends this Friday, April 12 at 11:59 p.m. Please review the game rules. Also, just a reminder that participants are required to make at least 20 trades. The trading history data from the MarketWatch website will be used to ensure that participants followed this requirement. Those who do not follow this requirement will not be awarded any prizes.

PARKING

If you plan on driving a vehicle to school this year, you must fill out the parking survey and pay the parking fee.  If you have not already completed the survey, please do so ASAP, Rochester HS Parking Survey. Please make sure you are parking in the correct parking spot.  Also, all students that park in the back lot will be required to enter through the MPR doors.  Students should not be entering any of the other doors on the back side of the HS.  If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Tucker in the Principal’s Office.


ATHLETICS & ACTIVITIES

SPORTS ANNOUNCEMENT

If your student plans to participate in one of our upcoming sports seasons, please visit Athletic Registration to register your athlete.  Please go under the 'more' tab and choose athletic registration.  We will also need an updated physical on file.  Don’t forget to subscribe to “notify me” for your child’s sport, this allows you to get automatic notifications of any schedule changes. If you need to check your child’s physical date or have any questions about the registration process, please contact Kim Hauck at khauck@rochester3a.net.
