NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS

DOUBLE BUS ROUTES, 3-19-24

Bus Routes #2, #4, #5, #7, #15 and #16 are double routes tonight, please wait in the HS cafeteria after school until your shuttle bus arrives to pick you up and take you home. Please direct any questions regarding late buses to the Bus Garage at (217)498-9834.

MUSIC DEPARTMENT ANNUAL SPRING CONCERT

The Rochester Music Department presents its Annual Spring Concert this Thursday, March 21 beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium.  Admission is free, and everyone is cordially invited to attend and listen to amazing music by our High School Concert Choir, Madrigals, Vocal Jazz, and Concert Band.

TENNIS TEAM INFORMATION

Due to the cold and wind, Boys Tennis today at U High has been postponed.  A potential make up date for the match will be announced soon.

RELEASE PEER SUPPORT MEETING

If you are interested in participating in a peer-led support group, an informational meeting will be held in the library during Rocket Time this Thursday, March 21.  We will discuss the findings of the mental health survey that was sent out in February by Liv Sheenan.  If this is something you are interested in, we would love to see you there.  Everyone is welcome, there will be snacks!

GREECE TRIP

There is still room and time to sign up for the upcoming Greece trip. Students, parents, and friends are welcome to travel on this Educational Tour during July 2024.  The deadline to sign up and pay is March 27! If the opportunity interests you, please email either Ms. Bilyeu or Ms. Wycoff for more information soon!

PHYSICS CLUB MEETING

The Physics Club will meet after school TODAY, Tuesday, March 19 in Mrs. Boyer's Room (3156).  We will have Barbie’s Bungee jump off of the stadium bleachers! 

SPANISH CLUB SALSA NIGHT

Spanish Club is excited to announce its Annual Salsa Night is coming up this Friday, March 22, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the MPR. Get ready for an evening filled with rhythm, flavor, and fun!  This year, we have two thrilling competitions lined up: Salsa Dancing Competition and Salsa Making Competition. If you would like to enter this competition, please fill out the form here. You do NOT need to be in the Spanish Club to join the competition. There will be a cash prize for both competitions!

Whether you're a skilled dancer or a master in the kitchen, there's something for everyone at salsa night. If you are a member of Spanish Club, the event is free, non-members must pay $5.00. Only current Rochester High School students may attend. So mark your calendars and start practicing your moves or perfecting your salsa recipe! Let's make this salsa night the best one yet!

EASTER EGG ORDERING INFO

It's time to order your candy filled Easter Eggs!!   The boys basketball team will deliver candy filled eggs on Saturday, March 30.  Prices are 100 eggs $50, 50 eggs $30 and 25 eggs $15.  Please order before this Sunday, March 24.  The link to order:  2024 Easter Egg Delivery.

FCA MEETING INFORMATION

We will have FCA this Sunday, March 24 at 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the RAC.  All High School students are welcome to attend.

LIBRARY ANNOUNCEMENTS

The top four books as determined by our HS library patrons are: One of Us Is Lying, Victorious, The Hate U Give, and We Were Liars.  Help us decide who will advance to the Championship bracket by voting for your top two books. Vote for the Top 2 Books!

RHS COLOR GUARD TRYOUTS

Calling all current 8th-11th graders!  The RHS Color Guard is holding their annual tryouts March 26-28 from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. in the High School MPR. If you are interested in learning a new skill and performing for your school and community join us! STOCK MARKET GAME INFO

The University of Illinois-Springfield is doing a stock market game competition for local high school students that has monetary prizes. It is only available to high school students. You must use an alternate email account besides your school email to register for MarketWatch and join the game. If you are interested in joining, please email Mrs. Powell at dpowell@rochester3a.net and she will send you the information about the game.

COMMUNITY EGG HUNT

Rochester Estates invites you to their Annual Community Easter Egg Hunt.  The hunt takes place on Saturday, March 23 at Rochester Estates in Rochester.  The Easter Egg Hunt starts at 10:00 a.m. and will be divided between age groups.  There will be prizes and pictures with the Easter Bunny. Also, Rochester Estates is asking for candy or small treat donations to be used for filling the eggs.  Donations can be dropped off at Rochester High School (Attention - Amy Staley) or brought by students to Room 1097.  Informational Flyer

PSAT & SAT TESTING INFO

RHS will be administering the PSAT 9, PSAT 10 and SAT on Wednesday, April 10.  All freshmen, sophomores and juniors will test that day.  Students will need to bring their fully charged Chromebooks to school.  Cell phones and any other electronic devices will not be allowed in the testing rooms.  Additional communication will be shared via email at a later date.

LLCC REGISTRATION

SENIORS: If you plan to attend LLCC in the Fall, please RSVP for the Annual Registration Prep Day on Thursday, April 18.  Please check your school email for more information and the link to RSVP.

CENTRAL ILLINOIS STEM FAIR INFORMATION

Ticket Registration is open for the 2024 Central Illinois STEM Fair, which will be held on Wednesday, April 10 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the RAC. Reserve your free ticket today at https://central-illinois-stem-fair.odoo.com/.  The Central Illinois STEM Fair planning committee is looking for parent volunteers to help with running this annual event.  No experience necessary!  Please email rochesterstemfair@gmail.com if interested.

COLLEGE NOW ANNOUNCEMENT

College Now students operate on the LLCC Schedule. This means that Spring Recess follows the LLCC schedule (class meetings happen during the schools' spring breaks if they do not coincide with LLCC's) and closings (class cancellations) also follow the LLCC schedule. If LLCC is open, classes meet, regardless of what is happening in the Rochester School District. LLCC weather closing announcements are available at www.llcc.edu.  Students are welcome to join our LLCC Alert system for emergency notifications. RHS PTO INFORMATION

HS Teachers need your help, kleenex and Clorox wipes are needed now to help us get through the cold and flu season!  You can make a donation at PayPal - (RHS PTO @rhsrocketspto) , you can visit our Amazon Wish List at RHS PTO Wish List or you can drop off donations at Student Services. The money collected helps buy supplies for the school and helps provide meals for Parent/Teacher conferences and treats during Teacher Appreciation Week. Any donation is greatly appreciated!

ALL attendance information (absences, doctors notes, vacation, pre-arranged absences, college visits, etc.) should be sent to Mrs. Basan-Welch in Student Services by email  vbasanwelch@rochester3a.net or by phone 217-498-9761, Ext. 53105. 

PARKING

If you plan on driving a vehicle to school this year, you must fill out the parking survey and pay the parking fee.  If you have not already completed the survey, please do so ASAP, Rochester HS Parking Survey. Please make sure you are parking in the correct parking spot.  Also, all students that park in the back lot will be required to enter through the MPR doors.  Students should not be entering any of the other doors on the back side of the HS.  If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Tucker in the Principal’s Office.

ATHLETICS & ACTIVITIES

SPORTS ANNOUNCEMENT

If your student plans to participate in one of our upcoming sports seasons, please visit Athletic Registration to register your athlete.  Please go under the 'more' tab and choose athletic registration.  We will also need an updated physical on file.  Don’t forget to subscribe to “notify me” for your child’s sport, this allows you to get automatic notifications of any schedule changes. If you need to check your child’s physical date or have any questions about the registration process, please contact Kim Hauck at khauck@rochester3a.net.
