NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS

DOUBLE BUS ROUTES, 3-6-24

Route #14 is a double route tonight, please wait in the HS cafeteria after school until your shuttle bus arrives to pick you up and take you home. Please direct any questions regarding late buses to the Bus Garage at (217)498-9834.

BAND PIZZA FUNDRAISER THIS SATURDAY

We need your help, band students and families! Please help us assemble pizzas THIS Saturday, March 9  at the Rochester United Methodist Church Gymnasium (555 S. Walnut, Rochester) at 8:00 a.m. Pizzas will be ready to bake or freeze.  All volunteers please come to the RUMC gymnasium with a baseball cap at 8:00 a.m.  Customers will NOT come to the church to pick up their pizzas. The band student you ordered from will deliver the pizzas. Questions can be directed to Lydia Hicks @ lhicks101505@gmail.com.

BOYS TRACK TEAM RESULTS

On Saturday, the RHS Boys Track Team competed at the Charleston Indoor Invitational. You can check out all the results, pictures and highlights here.

HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS GOLF TEAM INFORMATION

Are you interested in Girls Golf?  Come out and give golf a try at The Back 9 indoor simulators on March 10 from 1:00-3:00 p.m.  Coaches, players and parents will be in attendance to answer any questions.  Informational Flyer

5ESSENTIALS SURVEY FOR RHS

Parents, please take a few minutes to complete the 5Essentials Survey for RHS.  This is a survey given by the Illinois State Board of Education.

SPIRIT DAY

We will have an 80's Spirit Day this Friday, March 8 in support of the HS Musical this weekend.  Staff and students are encouraged to dress up like the 1980’s.

DRAMA DEPARTMENT PLAY/MUSICAL TICKETS

The Drama Department presents The One Act Play - 13 Ways to Screw Up Your College Interview and Back To The 80’s The Musical on March 8-10.  Get your tickets now!  Your phone will be your ticket to get into the event.  Links to each performance below - Adults $10.00 and Senior/Student $8.00.

LIBRARY ANNOUNCEMENTS

Let's celebrate March Madness Library style.  The top 16 books that were checked out of the HS Library are on the google form linked to the announcements.  Vote for your top 8 books.  Help select your favorite books as we count down to the #1 book for this school year.  RHS March Madness Library Style

RHS BLOOD DRIVE INFORMATION

Keep up the GREAT work Rockets! We only have 7 more slots for the Blood Drive, with times available on Friday, March 15. Times available are during B4 (1:20pm, 1:30, 1:35) and B5 (2:35, 2:45, 2:50, 3:00).  Students who participate can earn NHS and Club U Hours! AND will be eligible for a gift card, or t-shirt! Students and staff can participate during their PE classes and Rocket Time. Students MUST be 16 years of age or older to donate. Students who are 16 will need parent/guardian permission forms completed before donating. Forms can be turned in to Mrs. Hawkins or Mrs. Schneider. Consent Form Impact Life

This drive is not open to the community, but community members can visit ImpactLife to find a location and event nearby! Any community member who donates between March 15-22 and notes Rochester HS, will receive credit toward our Lifesaving Grant. LLCC REGISTRATION

SENIORS: If you plan to attend LLCC in the Fall, please RSVP for the Annual Registration Prep Day on Thursday, April 18.  Please check your school email for more information and the link to RSVP.

GREECE TRIP

There is still room and time to sign up for the upcoming Greece trip. Students, parents, and friends are welcome to travel on this Educational Tour during July 2024.  The deadline to sign up and pay is March 27! If the opportunity interests you, please email either Ms. Bilyeu or Ms. Wycoff for more information soon!

CENTRAL ILLINOIS STEM FAIR VOLUNTEERS

The Central Illinois STEM Fair planning committee is looking for parent volunteers to help with running this annual event.  No experience necessary!  Please email rochesterstemfair@gmail.com if interested.

SENIORS: The Rochester Education Foundation is offering two (2) one-time $1000 scholarships to graduating seniors of the Class of 2024. Scholarships are now available on their website: https://www.rochestereducationfoundation.org/scholarships.

SENIORS: The Rochester Youth Athletic Association (RYAA) is pleased to announce the annual Scholarship Application for 2024 is open now through Friday April 12, 2024.   Apply here.  Please email scholarship@ryaasports.org with any questions. 

COLLEGE NOW ANNOUNCEMENT

College Now students operate on the LLCC Schedule. This means that Spring Recess follows the LLCC schedule (class meetings happen during the schools' spring breaks if they do not coincide with LLCC's) and closings (class cancellations) also follow the LLCC schedule. If LLCC is open, classes meet, regardless of what is happening in the Rochester School District. LLCC weather closing announcements are available at www.llcc.edu.  Students are welcome to join our LLCC Alert system for emergency notifications. RHS PTO INFORMATION

HS Teachers need your help, kleenex and Clorox wipes are needed now to help us get through the cold and flu season!  You can make a donation at PayPal - (RHS PTO @rhsrocketspto) , you can visit our Amazon Wish List at RHS PTO Wish List or you can drop off donations at Student Services. The money collected helps buy supplies for the school and helps provide meals for Parent/Teacher conferences and treats during Teacher Appreciation Week. Any donation is greatly appreciated! 

PARKING

If you plan on driving a vehicle to school this year, you must fill out the parking survey and pay the parking fee.  If you have not already completed the survey, please do so ASAP, Rochester HS Parking Survey. Please make sure you are parking in the correct parking spot.  Also, all students that park in the back lot will be required to enter through the MPR doors.  Students should not be entering any of the other doors on the back side of the HS.  If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Tucker in the Principal’s Office.


ATHLETICS & ACTIVITIES

SPORTS ANNOUNCEMENT

If your student plans to participate in one of our upcoming sports seasons, please visit Athletic Registration to register your athlete.  Please go under the 'more' tab and choose athletic registration.  We will also need an updated physical on file.  Don’t forget to subscribe to “notify me” for your child’s sport, this allows you to get automatic notifications of any schedule changes. If you need to check your child’s physical date or have any questions about the registration process, please contact Kim Hauck at khauck@rochester3a.net.
