GIRLS SOCCER TEAM MEETING

All current and prospective players planning on playing on the girls soccer team this spring need to attend a meeting during Rocket Time this Friday, December 8 in the HS Commons.  If you can't make it, but are interested in playing, please contact Coach Kutscher at ckutscher@rochester3a.net.


SCHOLASTIC BOWL RESULTS

The Scholastic Bowl Team participated in the CS8 Tournament this past weekend and here are a few highlights.  JV ranked 3rd overall in the tournament! Lemuel Chan had the 2nd highest PPG (points-per-game) for Varsity players in the tournament with 51.11 and Holden Nichols had the 4th highest PPG for JV players in the tournament with 30.99!


WRESTLING TEAM RESULTS

The RHS Wrestling Team went 3-0 last night to remain undefeated on the season. Rochester beat Quincy Notre Dame 48-28, Camp Point Central 58-21, and SHG 67-11. The following wrestlers won 3 matches: 113 Conner Carroll, 120 Miles Carroll, 126 Jack Zucco, 138 Walker Quimby, 150 Nolan Mrozowski, 157 Ethan Fordham and 175 Eric Anderson.


WINTER BINGO BLAST

On Sunday, December 17 from 2:00-3:00 p.m. we will play “WINTER BINGO BLAST” in the RHS Cafeteria.  It's a BINGO GAME with a fancy name.  RHS Students and Staff are welcome to join in on the FUN and PRIZES.  Staff and Students will bring their own water bottles and snacks and we will provide THE FUN.


STUDENT STUDY TABLES - FINAL EXAMS

There will be Student Study Tables in the RHS LIBRARY on December 18 and 19 from 3:30-5:00 p.m. for any students needing a QUIET AREA to study for FINALS.


DON’T SWEAT THE TESTS - FINALS WEEK  

Staff and Students will wear comfortable sweats for the week of testing to provide a relaxed and stress free environment.


YOUTH HOMELESSNESS DRIVE

Rochester High School will be collecting items for a Youth Homelessness Drive, organized by the Springfield Mayor’s Youth Council and run by the RHS Student Council and National Honor Society. We will be collecting deodorant, toothpaste, shampoos, conditioners, etc. All donations will go to 5th Street Renaissance, located in Springfield. 5th Street Renaissance is a nonprofit organization that provides health services, transitional and permanent housing, along with many outreach programs to those in need. Please drop off donations in the designated box located in your A1 classroom. The A1 class who brings in the most donations will win free cookies from the cafeteria! With your help, we can combat the growing youth homelessness in the greater Springfield area.  Informational Flyer

FCA MEETING

There will be a FCA Meeting this Sunday, December 10 at 5:30 p.m. in the RAC.  All students are welcome to attend.


RHS SENIOR QUOTES

Seniors, please check your email and submit a Senior Quote for the yearbook. RHS Seniors will have a quote under their Senior Portrait in the RHS 2023-2024 Yearbook. You need to pick a quote that is meaningful and represents you as a person or a quote that represents your high school experience. Please read the tips and rules before selecting a quote! The deadline to submit the quote is Friday, December 8, 2023.


JOSTENS RING DELIVERY INFO - CLASS OF 2024

Jostens will be at RHS delivering class rings to those students who ordered them on Wednesday, December 13 during Rocket Time in the HS Commons!  Please make sure your order is paid in full prior to picking up your ring.  If you have a balance, please contact Jostens at 217-483-8989.  If you have any questions concerning picking up your ring, please contact Mrs. Tucker at stucker@rochester3a.net.

Seniors - Please check your emails and fill out the Diploma Request Form with the information of how you would like your name to appear on your diploma.


WARM UP ROCHESTER WINTER WEAR DRIVE

Starting December 1, we will be collecting items at the HS for the Warm Up Rochester Winter Wear Drive. Coats, gloves, blankets, scarves, and other cold weather wear (child and adult sizes) can be dropped off in the wrapped boxes located around the HS.  The Winter Wear Drive will take place from December 1 through December 15. With your help, we can ensure everyone can remain warm and comfortable this winter. Informational Flyer

RHS GIRLS SOCCER FUNDRAISER

RHS Girls Soccer are selling NubaySoft ™ D-Luxe School Spirit Blankets! These blankets are 60" x 80" and are not sport specific. These blankets make the perfect gift for any occasion. This is a great way to show your school spirit and support your ROCKETS! To kick things off, we are having a SPECIAL!! ONLY $65.00 IF YOU ORDER by December 15! The price will go up after December 15! Orders must be placed by December 15 for our first delivery. Delivery is scheduled between January 15-30. We will send out a flier you can include with a gift for Christmas. Fill out the ORDER FORM and be sure to send in your payment! Please do not send payment into the school. SANGAMON CEO LRS ICE SKATING RINK

Sangamon CEO’s LRS Ice Rink is back! The LRS Ice Rink will be open every Wednesday and Saturday until December 16! We hope to see you at Union Station for skating, games, music, and more!  For more information, see the LRS Ice Rink Website!


RHS PTO INFORMATION

As we gear up for the cold and flu season, we would like to help the HS teachers stock up on kleenex and Clorox wipes!  You can make a donation at PayPal - (RHS PTO @rhsrocketspto) , you can visit our Amazon Wish List at RHS PTO Wish List or you can drop off donations at Student Services. The money collected helps buy supplies for the school and helps provide meals for Parent/Teacher conferences and treats during Teacher Appreciation Week. Any donation is greatly appreciated! 


SENIORS - SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

The LLCC Foundation Scholarship Application for the 2024-2025 academic year is now open through February 15, 2024.  All students considering or planning to attend LLCC beginning in Fall 2024 are encouraged to apply. Please visit LLCC Scholarships for more information.

PRE-KINDERGARTEN CLASSROOM INFO

Due to grant funding from the Illinois State Board of Education, Rochester CUSD 3A will be opening a needs-based prekindergarten classroom in January 2024.  Please see the attached FLYER for information on screenings to be considered for the program!

 

PARKING

If you plan on driving a vehicle to school this year, you must fill out the parking survey and pay the parking fee.  If you have not already completed the survey, please do so ASAP, Rochester HS Parking Survey. Please make sure you are parking in the correct parking spot.  Also, all students that park in the back lot will be required to enter through the MPR doors.  Students should not be entering any of the other doors on the back side of the HS.  If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Tucker in the Principal’s Office.


ATHLETICS & ACTIVITIES 

SPORTS ANNOUNCEMENT

If your student plans to participate in one of our upcoming sports seasons, please visit RHS RSchool to register your athlete.  We will also need an updated physical on file.  Don’t forget to subscribe to “notify me” for your child’s sport, this allows you to get automatic notifications of any schedule changes. If you need to check your child’s physical date or have any questions about the registration process, please contact Kim Hauck at khauck@rochester3a.net.
