LOOKING AHEAD

Sept. 22 - Early Dismissal - HS - 11:15 a.m. - CACC Students will be dismissed after 3rd period at 9:40 but can wait in the HS Commons until 10:00 when the Pep Assembly dismissals will start

Sept. 22 - Senior Night - Football Team

Sept. 23 - Homecoming Dance - 8:00-11:00 p.m.

Sept. 27 - Athletic Booster Meeting - 6:00 p.m. - RAC


NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS

PARADE WINNERS ANNOUNCED

RHS Club U has awarded prizes for the parade entries that used the “USA/American Patriotism” parade theme and displayed school spirit. The winners this year were:

1st Place - JFL 7th Grade Football Team and 2nd Place - RHS Girls Golf Team.

Great job to all who participated!


ORANGE KRUSH APPAREL

Orange Krush T-Shirts and Crewnecks!  Please support the Freshman Class and buy an Orange Krush Student Section Shirt.  These shirts will be worn in the Student Section on October 13 at the football game!  Shirts will also be worn at other sporting events throughout the year.  Show some Rochester School Spirit and order here.  Order deadline is Monday, October 2.


BUS INFORMATION - 9.22.23 - Today's Update

Bus 3 and Bus 20 are being picked up by Bus 20 at dismissal.

Bus 4 and Bus 5 are being picked up by Bus 12 at dismissal.

Bus 10 and Bus 19 are being picked up by Bus 10 at dismissal.

Bus 12 is loading with Bus 2 at dismissal.

Bus 7, Bus 11, Bus 23, Bus 24 and Bus 28 are Double Routes today and those riders need to wait in the HS Cafeteria until the shuttle bus arrives to take students home.  Updated transportation information for the week - PM Dismissal information.


GENERAL INFORMATION

“BATTLE OF THE CLASSES” COMPETITION

Calling all RHS students! Get ready to show off your school spirit during the “Battle of the Classes” competition, held by the Student Council! Dress up in your most creative spirit week outfits and share a photo on Instagram. Don’t forget to use #rockethoco23 and tag @rochesterstuco in your post or story. Make sure to follow our Instagram page! Every post earns your Grade, 1 point, and we’ll update scores daily by 5 p.m. The grade with the most entries will be the winner on Friday! 


CHAPERONES NEEDED

Attention Parents- The Student Council is looking for volunteers to chaperone the Homecoming Dance this Saturday, September 23. If you are interested in chaperoning, please contact Mrs. Leonard at rleonard@rochester3a.net.


SENIOR NIGHT

Senior Night for the Football team will be held TONIGHT, Friday, September 22 before the football game at Rocket Booster Stadium!  Senior Recognition will be before the game (approximately 6:15-6:30).  Come out and support the team and the Class of 2024!  


HOMECOMING 2023 INFORMATION

When: Saturday, September 23, 2023 from 8:00-11:00 p.m.

Where: Rochester JH Gym 

Cost: $15.00 per Person - You will pay at the door.  

Students need to bring their Student ID.  


SCHOOL PICTURES

Picture retakes are scheduled for October 18.  If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Tucker at stucker@rochester3a.net.


CAPITAL AREA EDUCATION FAIR

RHS will be offering the chance for Seniors and Juniors to attend the Capital Area Education Fair (CAEF) on October 4 from approx. 8:40-10:20 a.m. The fair is located at the Orr Building on the Illinois State Fairgrounds and is an excellent opportunity for your student to talk to different representatives and gather information about specific Colleges and Universities. If your student is interested in attending, they can pick up a permission slip with Mrs. Schudel in Student Services. All permission slips must be returned by September 27. Attendance will be first come first serve.


FINANCIAL AID NIGHT

SENIORS: Financial Aid Night will be held on Wednesday, November 8 at 6:00 p.m. in the HS Fine Arts Auditorium.  


2023-2024 RHS YEARBOOKS ON SALE NOW

The 2023-2024 RHS Rocket Yearbook is on sale now for $67.00 until September 15, the price will increase after this date. ALL sales for books will be online this year. PARKING

If you plan on driving a vehicle to school this year, you must fill out the parking survey and pay the parking fee.  If you have not already completed the survey, please do so ASAP, Rochester HS Parking Survey. Please make sure you are parking in the correct parking spot.  Also, all students that park in the back lot will be required to enter through the MPR doors.  Students should not be entering any of the other doors on the back side of the HS.  If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Tucker in the Principal’s Office.


RHS PTO INFORMATION

You can make a donation at PayPal - (RHS PTO @rhsrocketspto) OR you can visit our Amazon Wish List at RHS PTO Wish List. The money collected helps buy supplies for the school and helps provide meals for Parent/Teacher conferences and treats during Teacher Appreciation Week. Any donation is greatly appreciated! 


THEATRE DEPARTMENT INFO

Though the Spring Semester is far away, it’s never too early to start planning. If you are interested in participating in the Theatre Department in any capacity this year, please fill out the Theatre Department Interest Form. Thank you for your input! AUDIO ESSAY CONTEST

The Rochester VFW is sponsoring the Voice of Democracy audio essay contest.  Winners can receive scholarship monies at the local post, district, state, and national levels.  Please see Mr. Fitzgerald in Room 1135 for an entry form and more information.  Entries are due to Mr. Fitzgerald by October 31.  


JUNIORS & SENIORS:  

St. John’s College of Nursing in Springfield, Illinois offers an after school program to teach Sangamon County high school juniors and seniors about nurses and their community. There are 12 Wednesday night sessions spread throughout October, November, December, February, March, and April. Sessions will take place at St. John’s simulation center from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Students must have their own transportation. Dinner will be provided.  To apply, contact amanda.winter@sjcs.edu or alisha.williams@sjcs.edu. Applications are due September 22!


DENTAL EXAM VISIT AT SCHOOL

The Rochester School District will be hosting Miles of Smiles, Ltd., a mobile dentist program.  Miles of Smiles provides preventative dental services in our school to eligible students in all grades. If you are interested in the program, please complete the linked form and return to your school nurse as soon as possible.  A copy of this form can be sent home with your student by request. Please return completed forms by 9/29/2023. Contact your school nurse, see attached Miles of Smiles Info Sheet, or checkout the Miles of Smiles Website for additional information.


DOCTORS NOTES

Please make sure that doctor’s notes are being brought to Mrs. Lessman in Student Services after the appointment.  

 

ATHLETICS & ACTIVITIES 

SPORTS ANNOUNCEMENT

If your student plans to participate in one of our upcoming sports seasons, please visit RHS RSchool to register your athlete.  We will also need an updated physical on file.  Don’t forget to subscribe to “notify me” for your child’s sport, this allows you to get automatic notifications of any schedule changes. If you need to check your child’s physical date or have any questions about the registration process, please contact Kim Hauck at khauck@rochester3a.net.
