BUS INFORMATION - 9.13.23

Bus 3 and Bus 20 are being picked up by Bus 20 at dismissal.

Bus 4 and Bus 5 are being picked up by Bus 12 at dismissal.

Bus 10 and Bus 19 are being picked up by Bus 10 at dismissal.

Bus 12 is loading with Bus 2 at dismissal.

Bus 7 and Bus 23 are Double Routes and those riders need to wait in the HS Cafeteria until the shuttle bus arrives to take students home.



GENERAL INFORMATION

PRE-GAME TAILGATE

The Athletic Department will be hosting a pre-game tailgate for RHS students prior to the Varsity football game vs Jacksonville this Friday.  The tailgate will be on the west side of the parking lot by the tennis courts.  Hot dogs, chips, and drinks will be served from 5:45-6:45 p.m.  Stop by and see "Chef Buckley" and grab some food before heading to the field and cheering on the Rockets to victory over the Crimsons!


SENIOR NIGHT

Senior Night for the Boys and Girl Golf teams, Girls Tennis, Cross Country, Band, Cheer and Poms will be held on Friday, September 15 before the football game at Rocket Booster Stadium!  Senior Recognition will be before the game (approximately 6:15-6:30).  Come out and support the teams and the Class of 2024!  


RJHS PTO FUNDRAISER PICK UP

The RJHS PTO Fundraiser Pick Up date has been rescheduled to this Thursday, September 14 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the RJHS Office.


SOPHOMORES - CLASS RING ORDER INFO

Jostens will return to RHS on Friday, September 15 to collect the class ring orders from 7:30-10:15 a.m. and distribute companion rings. Please design your ring online and bring your confirmation # with you on Friday.  Please view the following video for more information - Informational Video & Link to Order.  You can contact Jostens at 217-483-8989 with any questions you may have after reviewing the packet information.


YEARBOOK PICK UP INFORMATION

Attention, RHS Students in Grades 12, 11, and 10

The 2022-2023 RHS Rocket Yearbooks are here! If you ordered a yearbook last year you will pick it up in the BACK of the AUDITORIUM on THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 14 during Rocket Time. Please listen for the announcement for your class to be called to the Auditorium. Freshmen, do not report to the auditorium. We do not have your JH book. Last year's RHS Graduates will pick up yearbooks from 3:30-6:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 14 at the Auditorium Doors. Park in the back of the building and see the person at the desk. If a graduate cannot be there to pick up the book, a family member or friend may sign for it. NO other books for underclassmen will be handed out at this time. See the attached letter with directions for Graduate Yearbook pick up.


HOMECOMING 2023 INFORMATION

When: Saturday, September 23, 2023 from 8:00-11:00 p.m.

Where: Rochester JH Gym 

Cost: $15.00 per Person - You will pay at the door.  

Students need to bring their Student ID.  Guest forms for non-Rochester students to attend the Homecoming Dance will be available from Mrs. Lessman in Student Services. Guest forms will be due Wednesday, September 20 by 3:05 p.m. to Mrs. Lessman in Student Services. If you have any questions about the guest form, please contact Mrs. Lessman in Student Services.

RHS HOMECOMING PARADE INFORMATION

This year’s Rochester High School Homecoming Parade will be on Wednesday, September 20 at 5:30 p.m. This year’s theme is “USA/American Patriotism”.  To sign up your sport/club/business, please fill out the form at: Homecoming Parade Sign Up Link.


SCHOLASTIC BOWL INFORMATION

There will be an informational meeting for anyone interested in joining the RHS Scholastic Bowl Team on Monday, September 18 in the Library at 3:15 p.m. for interested students and their parents. Please reach out to Ms. Nordstrom at enordstrom@rochester3a.net with any questions.


BIG BUDDY INFORMATION

Juniors and Seniors that are interested in being a Big Buddy please complete the survey that was emailed to you earlier this week. Forms are due by Monday, September 18.


REF CHICKEN DINNER INFORMATION

The Rochester Education Foundation is hosting a Chicken Dinner Fundraiser on Wednesday, September 27 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. with pick up at the EC-1 Building. You won't even have to get out of your car!

Menu: Grilled 1/2 chicken, mashed potatoes with chicken gravy, and southern style green beans. The meal comes with a roll, butter, all utensils and a sweet treat. - $13.00

FINANCIAL AID NIGHT

SENIORS: Financial Aid Night will be held on Wednesday, November 8 at 6:00 p.m. in the HS Fine Arts Auditorium.  


2023-2024 RHS YEARBOOKS ON SALE NOW

The 2023-2024 RHS Rocket Yearbook is on sale now for $67.00 until September 15, the price will increase after this date. ALL sales for books will be online this year. GREECE TRIP 2024

There is still room and time to sign up for the upcoming trip to Greece. Students, parents, and friends are welcome to travel on this educational tour during July 2024.  If this opportunity interests you, please email either Ms. Bilyeu, mbilyeu@rochester3a.net or Ms. Wycoff, lwycoff@rochester3a.net for more information soon!  The price for new enrollees will increase on October 1. 

 

PARKING

If you plan on driving a vehicle to school this year, you must fill out the parking survey and pay the parking fee.  If you have not already completed the survey, please do so ASAP, Rochester HS Parking Survey. Please make sure you are parking in the correct parking spot.  Also, all students that park in the back lot will be required to enter through the MPR doors.  Students should not be entering any of the other doors on the back side of the HS.  If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Tucker in the Principal’s Office.


RHS PTO INFORMATION

The RHS PTO is wanting to let you know of an easy way to donate to our organization.  RHS does not use Supply Lists like the younger grades, so the RHS PTO helps collect items for HS teachers to start the year. You can make a donation at PayPal - (RHS PTO @rhsrocketspto) OR you can visit our Amazon Wish List at RHS PTO Wish List. The money collected helps buy supplies for the school and helps provide meals for Parent/Teacher conferences and treats during Teacher Appreciation Week. Any donation is greatly appreciated! 


THEATRE DEPARTMENT INFO

Though the Spring Semester is far away, it’s never too early to start planning. If you are interested in participating in the Theatre Department in any capacity this year, please fill out the Theatre Department Interest Form. Thank you for your input! AUDIO ESSAY CONTEST

The Rochester VFW is sponsoring the Voice of Democracy audio essay contest.  Winners can receive scholarship monies at the local post, district, state, and national levels.  Please see Mr. Fitzgerald in Room 1135 for an entry form and more information.  Entries are due to Mr. Fitzgerald by October 31.  


JUNIORS & SENIORS:  

St. John’s College of Nursing in Springfield, Illinois offers an after school program to teach Sangamon County high school juniors and seniors about nurses and their community. There are 12 Wednesday night sessions spread throughout October, November, December, February, March, and April. Sessions will take place at St. John’s simulation center from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Students must have their own transportation. Dinner will be provided.  To apply, contact amanda.winter@sjcs.edu or alisha.williams@sjcs.edu. Applications are due September 22!


DENTAL EXAM VISIT AT SCHOOL

The Rochester School District will be hosting Miles of Smiles, Ltd., a mobile dentist program.  Miles of Smiles provides preventative dental services in our school to eligible students in all grades. Services may include a dental exam, cleaning, fluoride, and sealants, where needed, to students who have pre-registered. The medical card and All Kids covers this visit 100%. Services performed are billed to: Medicaid/All Kids, county grantees via the IDPH Dental Sealant Grant Program*, various granting agencies, & private insurance. Miles of Smiles, Ltd. accepts reimbursement status as final payment. Families and schools are never billed for copayments, deductibles, or balances.  This exam does qualify for the required dental exam for K, 2nd, 6th, and 9th grade students due by May 15, 2024.  It also qualifies for next year's dental requirements if you have a current 1st, 5th, or 8th grader. If you are interested in the program, please complete the linked form and return to your school nurse as soon as possible.  A copy of this form can be sent home with your student by request. Please return completed forms by 9/29/2023. Once forms are collected Miles of Smiles will set a date for our visit. Contact your school nurse, see attached handout, or checkout the Miles of Smiles Website for additional information.

Please make sure that doctor’s notes are being brought to Mrs. Lessman in Student Services after the appointment.

SPORTS ANNOUNCEMENT

If your student plans to participate in one of our upcoming sports seasons, please visit RHS RSchool to register your athlete.  We will also need an updated physical on file.  Don’t forget to subscribe to “notify me” for your child’s sport, this allows you to get automatic notifications of any schedule changes. If you need to check your child’s physical date or have any questions about the registration process, please contact Kim Hauck at khauck@rochester3a.net.
