SPANISH CLUB INFO

If you paid your $5.00 dues AND filled out the form for Spanish Club, you should have received an email from Srta. Miller this morning confirming your club membership. If you paid, but did not receive an email, please reach out to Srta. Miller or Sra. Veenstra ASAP.


SHADOW HANSON DAY INFO

Rochester has been invited along with all of the Central Illinois Area schools to participate in Shadow Hanson on Friday, October 13 at the Bank of Springfield Center from 9:00 a.m.- 1:30 p.m. This day will consist of exploring the different engineering disciplines through interactive stations and a guest speaker.  There are a very limited number of spots available for this free event so if you are interested please complete this form by Friday, September 8.  Students will be contacted by September 15 to let them know if they are able to attend.  If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Flynn at sflynn@rochester3a.net or stop by the Technology Office.  Info Flyer

RHS HOMECOMING PARADE INFORMATION

This year’s Rochester High School Homecoming Parade will be on Wednesday, September 20 at 5:30 p.m. This year’s theme is “USA/American Patriotism”.  To sign up your sport/club/business, please fill out the form at: Homecoming Parade Sign Up Link.


ART CLUB INFORMATION

Art Club will start on September 11 in Mrs. Bell's Art Room (1129) from 3:15-4:15 p.m. Please email Mrs. Bell at sbell@rochester3a.net if you are interested and she will add you to the Canvas page. 


SCHOLASTIC BOWL INFORMATION

There will be an informational meeting for anyone interested in joining the RHS Scholastic Bowl Team on Monday, September 18 in the Library at 3:15 p.m. for interested students and their parents. Please reach out to Ms. Nordstrom at enordstrom@rochester3a.net with any questions.


JUNIORS:  PSAT/NMSQT INFORMATION

RHS is offering the PSAT/NMSQT on Wednesday, October 11.  Students who take the PSAT/NMSQT and meet other program entry requirements specified in the PSAT/NMSQT Student Guide will enter the National Merit Scholarship Program, an academic competition for recognition and scholarships conducted by National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC).  This test is optional for students.  The cost is $18.  Checks may be made payable to Rochester High School.  Payment needs to be given to Mrs. Schudel in Student Services by September 11. 


2023-2024 RHS YEARBOOKS ON SALE NOW

The 2023-2024 RHS Rocket Yearbook is on sale now for $67.00 until September 15, the price will increase after this date. ALL sales for books will be online this year. GREECE TRIP 2024

There is still room and time to sign up for the upcoming trip to Greece. Students, parents, and friends are welcome to travel on this educational tour during July 2024.  If this opportunity interests you, please email either Ms. Bilyeu, mbilyeu@rochester3a.net or Ms. Wycoff, lwycoff@rochester3a.net for more information soon!  The price for new enrollees will increase on October 1. 

 

PARKING

If you plan on driving a vehicle to school this year, you must fill out the parking survey and pay the parking fee.  If you have not already completed the survey, please do so ASAP, Rochester HS Parking Survey. Please make sure you are parking in the correct parking spot.  Also, all students that park in the back lot will be required to enter through the MPR doors.  Students should not be entering any of the other doors on the back side of the HS.  If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Tucker in the Principal’s Office.


RHS PTO INFORMATION

The RHS PTO is wanting to let you know of an easy way to donate to our organization.  RHS does not use Supply Lists like the younger grades, so the RHS PTO helps collect items for HS teachers to start the year. You can make a donation at PayPal - (RHS PTO @rhsrocketspto) OR you can visit our Amazon Wish List at RHS PTO Wish List. The money collected helps buy supplies for the school and helps provide meals for Parent/Teacher conferences and treats during Teacher Appreciation Week. Any donation is greatly appreciated! 


THEATRE DEPARTMENT INFO

Though the Spring Semester is far away, it’s never too early to start planning. If you are interested in participating in the Theatre Department in any capacity this year, please fill out the Theatre Department Interest Form. Thank you for your input! AUDIO ESSAY CONTEST

The Rochester VFW is sponsoring the Voice of Democracy audio essay contest.  Winners can receive scholarship monies at the local post, district, state, and national levels.  Please see Mr. Fitzgerald in Room 1135 for an entry form and more information.  Entries are due to Mr. Fitzgerald by October 31.  


JUNIORS & SENIORS:  

St. John’s College of Nursing in Springfield, Illinois offers an after school program to teach Sangamon County high school juniors and seniors about nurses and their community. There are 12 Wednesday night sessions spread throughout October, November, December, February, March, and April. Sessions will take place at St. John’s simulation center from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Students must have their own transportation. Dinner will be provided.  To apply, contact amanda.winter@sjcs.edu or alisha.williams@sjcs.edu. Applications are due September 22!

Please make sure that doctor’s notes are being brought to Mrs. Lessman in Student Services after the appointment.

SPORTS ANNOUNCEMENT

If your student plans to participate in one of our upcoming sports seasons, please visit RHS RSchool to register your athlete.  We will also need an updated physical on file.  Don’t forget to subscribe to “notify me” for your child’s sport, this allows you to get automatic notifications of any schedule changes. If you need to check your child’s physical date or have any questions about the registration process, please contact Kim Hauck at khauck@rochester3a.net.
