NEW TODAY AT RHS

HS COURTYARD CLOSED TODAY

For lunch today, the courtyard will be CLOSED due to the heat. Supervisors, please eat in either the HS Commons or in the lunchroom. 


ART CLUB INFORMATION

Art Club will start on September 11 in Mrs. Bell's Art Room (1129) from 3:15-4:15 p.m. Please email Mrs. Bell at sbell@rochester3a.net if you are interested and she will add you to the Canvas page. 


GENERAL INFORMATION

DOUBLE BUS ROUTES, 8-25-23

RHS riders on Buses #3, #4, #5 and #7 please wait in the HS cafeteria until your shuttle bus comes to pick you up and take you home. PLEASE DIRECT ANY QUESTIONS REGARDING LATE BUSES TO THE BUS GARAGE. THEY CAN BE REACHED AT (217) 498-9834.


CLASS OFFICER APPLICATIONS

If you are interested in being a class officer for this school year, please complete the attached application and essay by Monday, August 28 at 10:00 a.m.  Class Officer Application

PARKING

If you plan on driving a vehicle to school this year, you must fill out the parking survey and pay the parking fee.  If you have not already completed the survey, please do so ASAP, Rochester HS Parking Survey. Please make sure you are parking in the correct parking spot.  Also, all students that park in the back lot will be required to enter through the MPR doors.  Students should not be entering any of the other doors on the back side of the HS.  If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Tucker in the Principal’s Office.


2023-2024 RHS YEARBOOKS ON SALE NOW

The 2023-2024 RHS Rocket Yearbook is on sale now for $67.00 until September 15, the price will increase after this date. ALL sales for books will be online this year. ROCKETWEAR FUNDRAISER

Habit 4 - Think Win-Win - Grab some new Rocketwear AND support the RJHS PTO so they can continue supporting our students and staff!  Orders can be placed until August 27.  Pick up will be at RJHS on Sept. 11 from 4:00-6:00 p.m.  LINK TO PURCHASE


RHS PTO INFORMATION

The RHS PTO is wanting to let you know of an easy way to donate to our organization.  RHS does not use Supply Lists like the younger grades, so the RHS PTO helps collect items for HS teachers to start the year. You can make a donation at PayPal - (RHS PTO @rhsrocketspto) OR you can visit our Amazon Wish List at RHS PTO Wish List. The money collected helps buy supplies for the school and helps provide meals for Parent/Teacher conferences and treats during Teacher Appreciation Week. Any donation is greatly appreciated! 


RHS HOMECOMING PARADE INFORMATION

This year’s Rochester High School Homecoming Parade will be on Wednesday, September 20 at 5:30 p.m. This year’s theme is “USA/American Patriotism”.  To sign up your sport/club/business, please fill out the form at: Homecoming Parade Sign Up Link.


GERMAN CLUB INFORMATION

If you are interested in joining the German Club, please sign up with Frau Catarinicchia by September 1.  The cost to join is $5.00.


DEBATE CLUB INFORMATION

The Debate Club will be starting up soon and we will have an Introduction Meeting on Thursday August 24 at 3:15 p.m. in Mrs. Bilyeu’s Room (1092).  Anyone is welcome to attend the meeting. We will be going over the format of upcoming debates, rules of the club, debate topics, etc. 


PHYSICS CLUB INFORMATION

If you would like to join the Physics Club, please scan the QR codes that are on posters around the school. We will most likely start with an Egg Drop Competition. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Boyer in Room 3156. 


DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS CLUB INFO

The Dungeons N Dragons Club will have an informal sign-up meeting on August 29 at 3:15 p.m. in Mrs. Meredith’s Room (3165). Please see the signs around the building for more information.


CHEMISTRY CLUB

If you are interested in joining the Chemistry Club this year, please stop by Mrs. Peters' Room (3157) or email her at speters@rochester3a.net.


SPANISH CLUB INFORMATION

¡Hola a todos! Are you ready to embark on a journey of language, culture, and fun? We invite you to become a part of the Spanish Club! Whether you're already in Spanish 1, 4, or not in Spanish class at all, our club is the perfect place for you to explore, learn, and connect with others who share your passion. To join, simply fill out this form and submit your $5.00 dues to Srta. Miller by NO LATER THAN Friday, September 1.  For more information or any questions, please feel free to contact Srta Miller or Sra. Veenstra. ¡Te esperamos con los brazos abiertos! THEATRE DEPARTMENT INFO

Though the Spring Semester is far away, it’s never too early to start planning. If you are interested in participating in the Theatre Department in any capacity this year, please fill out the Theatre Department Interest Form. Thank you for your input! MAYOR’S YOUTH COUNCIL

Are you interested in becoming part of the Mayor's Youth Council? High School students who reside within the City of Springfield, Illinois, and also within Springfield Aldermanic Wards 1-10, are eligible to participate. There are many pockets and unincorporated areas within the city limits. Please check your eligibility by looking up your home address on this link. Interested applicants should see their Guidance Counselor for an application. Deadline to apply is September 1.


DOCTORS NOTES

Please make sure that doctor’s notes are being brought to Mrs. Lessman in Student Services after the appointment.  

 

ATHLETICS & ACTIVITIES 

SPORTS ANNOUNCEMENT

If your student plans to participate in one of our upcoming sports seasons, please visit RHS RSchool to register your athlete.  We will also need an updated physical on file.  Don’t forget to subscribe to “notify me” for your child’s sport, this allows you to get automatic notifications of any schedule changes. If you need to check your child’s physical date or have any questions about the registration process, please contact Kim Hauck at khauck@rochester3a.net.
