SENIOR CLASS - PLEASE READ

SENIORS - If you received any scholarships or awards from the institution you will be attending, please complete the Senior Recognition Ceremony Form by Friday, May 5.  

SENIORS - Please complete the End of Year Survey sent to you by your Counselor.  This form asks where you want your final transcript sent after graduation.  Responses are due by May 15.  


PROM KING & QUEEN VOTING

Juniors and Seniors, please remember to vote for your Prom King and Queen.  You should have received an email from Ms. Wagner.  Voting will begin today and close this Friday, May 5 at 12:00 p.m. Once voting closes it will not re-open.  We will announce the King and Queen promptly at 9:30 .p.m. during Prom which is this Saturday, May 6 at the Artisan Building on the Illinois State Fairgrounds from 8:00-11:00 p.m. 


DOUBLE BUS ROUTES, 5-3-23

RHS riders on Bus #22 please wait in the HS cafeteria after school until your shuttle bus arrives to pick you up and take you home.  PLEASE DIRECT ANY QUESTIONS REGARDING LATE BUSES TO THE BUS GARAGE. THEY CAN BE REACHED AT (217) 498-9834.


PROMENADE

RHS Students attending Prom this weekend are invited to stop by Rochester Estates for a few minutes to walk through between 4:00-6:00 p.m. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Tucker in the Principal’s Office. Promenade Flyer


AFTER PROM INFORMATION

Come to the FREE event for juniors and seniors ($5 for all other guests) in the HS Cafeteria/JH gym on Saturday, May 6. Doors open at 11:30 p.m. until 1:30 a.m. We will have games in the gym, food, and TVs set up to bring your own gaming device!  Prizes will be raffled off at 12:30 a.m. and 1:30 a.m. Prizes include a PS5, TV’s, mini-fridges, AirPods, gift cards, and more! ROCHESTER FINE ARTS FESTIVAL SCHEDULE

The Annual Rochester Fine Arts Festival takes place on Thursday, May 4 in the Auditorium and JH Gymnasium.  Artwork will be on display all night in both spaces, as well as performances by all our music ensembles with the following schedule.  Students should be in their performance area 10 min before scheduled performance time.  There is no admission charge...please come out and support the Arts at Rochester Schools!

29TH ANNUAL ROCKET FOOTBALL GOLF OUTING

GENERAL INFORMATION 

PROM 2023

The Junior Class is excited to announce that this year's Under New York Lights Prom 2023 will be held Saturday, May 6, 2023, at the Artisans Building on the Illinois State Fairgrounds from 8:00-11:00 p.m. Tickets will be $30 each and will be sold online. Ticket sales end Friday, May 5 at 12:00 p.m. (NOON). Prom Ticket Link to Purchase or scan the QR code on the Prom posters around the school! If you are planning to bring a guest from another school or a student that is not a Junior or Senior at RHS you must complete a guest form. Guest forms for Prom will be available in Student Services from April 17 - May 2. Guest forms will be due by Wednesday, May 3 to Student Services by the end of the school day (3:05 p.m.). If you have any questions regarding Prom, please reach out to Ms. Wagner or Mrs. Gumble. 


GRADUATION WALK

All RHS Seniors will visit the Elementary campus, RIS campus and JH/HS campus for a Graduation Walk on Friday, May 5 from 9:00-10:15 a.m.  Seniors should bring their cap and gown to wear during their visits to the other campuses. You must have your cap and gown to participate. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Tucker in the Principal’s Office.


GIRLS GOLF TEAM INFORMATION

Attention ALL 8th-11th Grade Girls: There will be a Mandatory Parent/Player Meeting on Monday, May 8 at 6:00 p.m. in Coach Mayer’s classroom (Room 3103 @ the High School - enter at the Student Services doors). We will discuss rules, expectations, suggested summer tournaments, uniform orders/sizes, and practice/match schedule for the fall season. MADRIGAL AUDITIONS

Auditions for the 2023-24 Rochester Madrigals will be held on May 9 and May 10 after school in the Choir Room. Any Rochester student is welcome to audition whether you're currently in choir or not! GRADUATION INFO - SENIOR PARENTS & STUDENTS

The 2023 Graduation Ceremony will be held at Rocket Booster Stadium at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 21, 2023. All senior students will need to attend a mandatory graduation practice on Friday, May 19 at 10:00 a.m. 2023 Graduation Information Sheet for Parents/Students.  If you did not receive the graduation letter from Mr. Ashbaugh, please contact Sue Tucker at stucker@rochester3a.net so we can make sure that we have your correct email.


SPORTS BANNERS - INFO FOR JUNIORS

Juniors, the dates for photos for sports senior banners are May 17 and May 18.  Please fill out the form sent to your email with the date you choose to take your photo and activities you will be signing up for.  Please contact Kim Hauck in the Athletic Office with any questions you may have.


VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

Do you want to help students at RIS? Need volunteering hours? We could use your help! On Saturday, May 6 at 10:00 a.m. we need volunteers to help spread mulch around the playground at Rochester Intermediate School. Bring a shovel, your strength, and a wheelbarrow if you have one. Sports groups and community groups willing to help are welcome. Please help us spread the word! Together we got this!

The 2022-2023 RHS Rocket Yearbook is on sale, click Jostens RHS Yearbook Sales to order your yearbook TODAY! Just a reminder that we do not purchase an excess of extra yearbooks, so if you want a yearbook, please make sure to order it NOW


DOCTORS NOTES

Please make sure that doctor’s notes are being brought to Mrs. Lessman in Student Services after the appointment.  The note will change that absence in Skyward from a parent excuse - AE to a doctor excused absence - AD.  Students are only allowed 6 AE absences in a school year. After 6 excused absences they will be counted as unexcused absences- UU.  Please contact Mrs. Lessman in Student Services if you have questions.


PARKING

Please make sure you are parking in the correct parking spot.  If you park in the wrong spot, it causes a chain reaction of students not being able to park in their assigned spot.  Also, if you are driving to school, you must have a parking sticker posted in your vehicle.  Please contact Mrs. Tucker in the Principal’s Office to purchase a sticker.  


ATHLETICS & ACTIVITIES

SPORTS PHYSICAL INFORMATION

Sports physicals for Rochester High School athletes will be held on Thursday, May 18 starting at 4:00 p.m. in the RAC.  These physicals are for current freshman, sophomore and junior athletes.  There is no charge for the physicals, which are conducted by local physicians/parents from the Rochester community and Springfield Clinic Sports Medicine. Each student athlete is required to have a physical on file before beginning practice.  These physicals are good for 13 months. Each athlete must have a filled out and SIGNED IHSA history and physical form before they can receive their physical.  Medical Eligibility Form  Volunteer nurses are needed to help with blood pressure checks, height and weight and other pre-physical activities.  If you can volunteer to help, or have questions,  please contact Pete Stoll at pstoll@springfieldclinic.com or on his cell at 217-553-1511. There will not be a scheduled make-up date for students that cannot attend.


SPORTS ANNOUNCEMENT

If your student plans to participate in one of our upcoming sports seasons, please visit RHS RSchool to register your athlete.  We will also need an updated physical on file.  Don’t forget to subscribe to “notify me” for your child’s sport, this allows you to get automatic notifications of any schedule changes. If you need to check your child’s physical date or have any questions about the registration process, please contact Kim Hauck at khauck@rochester3a.net.


BASKETBALL OPEN GYMS

If you are interested in playing basketball next year, community open gyms will begin this Wednesday, April 5 and will run through October. Open gyms will be held in the RAC on Wednesdays.

The times will be as follows:

3rd through 8th Graders:  6:00–7:00 p.m.

9th through 12th Grade:   7:00-8:30 p.m.
