End-of-Year Chromebook Information for Rochester Families
As we approach the end of the school year, the Rochester Technology Department has outlined important Chromebook procedures for students and families. These guidelines help ensure a smooth transition into summer and the next school year while protecting the devices that support student learning.
Below are the details families need to know:
Chromebook Return and Summer Use by Grade Level
Grades K - 2nd:
All Chromebooks and chargers will be collected at the end of the school year.
Devices will be redistributed in the fall.
Grades 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, & 11:
Students will keep their Chromebooks over the summer.
Students will be held to the Responsible Use Policy and are responsible for any damages.
Grades 3, 6, 9, & 12:
Students who have paid the full technology fee ($225 over 3 years) will own their Chromebooks.
Devices will be released from district control.
Students who have not paid the full fee will need to return their Chromebook and charger or pay the remaining balance to keep the device.
Device Condition & Responsibilities
All Chromebooks and chargers must be returned in working condition unless ownership has transferred.
Lost or damaged devices will be subject to repair or replacement fees.
Students keeping devices over the summer should treat them with care and avoid damage or loss.
